Tutors provide academic assistance to children between the ages of 6-18 and are paired based on their age, abilities, and interests.

Children’s Center

North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center supervises the Children’s Center at the Nassau County Family Court in Westbury. This beautifully equipped child care center provides a safe and comfortable environment for children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years, whose families are involved in legal and domestic issues in Family Court. We are looking for volunteers to interact with children giving them much-needed personal attention, all under the guidance of early childhood educators. Volunteers are needed for the morning or afternoon shift: 9am-1pm or 2pm-5pm, one day each week.

Program Advisory Councils

The goal of program advisory councils is to ensure that our programs are meeting the needs of the community and to work to enhance these programs. Membership is composed of professionals, former clients, staff members, and interested community members. Currently, there are three program advisories in operation: Parenting, the Children’s Center, The Leeds Place – Serving Young People.

Event Committees

Please lend your time and energy to our event committees (Spring Luncheon, Golf & Tennis, Gala) to help us raise funds for general operating support.

Business Advisory Council

Local business leaders serve as our ambassadors to corporate Long Island through outreach and an annual networking event.

Communications Advisory Board

Share your marketing, social media, website or PR savvy to help us improve the marketing and branding prowess of the Guidance Center and increase exposure and awareness about the organization.

Social Media Intern

Hours: Part-time/Flexible

North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center (www.northshorechildguidance.org) is seeking a Social Media Intern for six months. Main responsibilities include planning, creating, and posting content on the Guidance Center’s Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook accounts. The Social Media Intern will also be responsible for publishing weekly blog posts, using the Guidance Center’s WordPress account, centering on current and emerging mental health topics. This is an ideal opportunity for students looking to strengthen their portfolio with writing samples and gain hands on experience running professional social media accounts.


  • Working knowledge of professional social media
  • Prior experience with blogs
  • Sensitivity regarding mental health issues
  • Ability to run and analyze social analytics/SEO
  • Reliable and trustworthy

Preferred, but not required:

  • Knowledge of mental health/minor in a related field
  • Microsoft Office
  • Adobe Creative Suite
