We
offer three different types of services at the Learning to Learn
Center:
-
Psychological
and neuropsychological testing evaluates intelligence, academic
achievement, as well as other cognitive skills and social-emotional
functioning. We provide an individualized, integrated and comprehensive
description of the child's strengths and weaknesses, as well
as extensive recommendations on how to help the child succeed
at home and school. We help the parent, the child and the school
to understand how to implement our recommendations.
-
Mental
health services address children's needs with respect to
how they process information and learn. Services include individual,
family and group therapy as well as medication if needed. We
assess a child's strengths and weaknesses. We help the family
to understand and address learning, social and emotional needs
to optimize adaptive functioning.
-
Tutoring/remediation
services are offered to children who are struggling academically
and who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities. These
services are supervised by our education specialist. Students
are carefully matched with volunteer tutors to ensure that we
maximize their learning potential.
If a family
suspects a learning disability or attention deficit disorder or
other mental health concerns they may contact the Guidance Center
directly. We also receive referrals from school districts, many
of whom include us on their list of independent evaluation sites.
Additionally, our Learning to Learn staff members provide consultation
and training to school personnel upon request.
